This page summarises published research areas for general information. It does not establish safety, efficacy, or suitability for any use.
BPC-157 is a synthetic 15-amino-acid peptide. Published research has mainly examined it in cells and animal injury models, with only very limited early human research.
Areas of research interest
Current evidence
The literature is dominated by preclinical cell and animal studies. A recent peer-reviewed review identified only a small number of pilot human studies, while a registered Phase I study examined oral safety and pharmacokinetics. This does not establish a clinical benefit.
Important limitations
Animal models do not reliably predict results in people. Human reports are small and cannot characterise effectiveness or long-term safety. The TGA identifies BPC-157 products as unapproved therapeutic goods in Australia.
