NAD+ is a naturally occurring coenzyme involved in cellular redox reactions, energy metabolism, DNA-damage responses and cell signalling.
Areas of research interest
Current evidence
Most research concerns biological pathways, animal models or strategies intended to raise NAD+ availability. Direct human research on NAD+ itself is limited; a small retrospective infusion study reported short-term observations rather than clinical benefit.
Important limitations
Cell, animal and precursor research does not establish outcomes for direct NAD+ or a particular product. The limited human study was small, non-randomised and short-term.
