Retatrutide is an investigational peptide studied for activity at GIP, GLP-1 and glucagon receptors. Published work includes receptor studies, animal studies and controlled human clinical trials.
Areas of research interest
Current evidence
Two sponsor-funded Phase 2 randomised trials investigated retatrutide in defined adult populations. They reported group-level changes in metabolic endpoints alongside gastrointestinal adverse events and heart-rate observations. Phase 3 research is ongoing.
Important limitations
The studies used selected eligibility criteria and limited follow-up. Phase 2 findings do not establish long-term safety, outcomes in broader populations, or equivalence to material supplied outside a clinical-trial chain.
