TB-500 is commonly described as the acetylated seven-amino-acid fragment Ac-LKKTETQ, related to the larger thymosin beta-4 protein. Research on the fragment should not be confused with research on full-length thymosin beta-4.

Current evidence
Direct evidence for TB-500 is mainly analytical and preclinical. A 2024 study examined metabolism and fibroblast assays, while much repair literature concerns full-length thymosin beta-4 or a related unacetylated sequence rather than TB-500 itself.
Important limitations
No direct human clinical efficacy evidence for the exact TB-500 fragment was identified. Cell and animal findings cannot establish human outcomes, and results for full-length thymosin beta-4 cannot be assumed to apply to TB-500.
